I've been reading Tokyo Vice by Jake Adelstein. It's Jakes's story about working as a reporter for a national Japanese newspaper. Jake bangs around various departments for a few years, learning the ropes, and then he gets a human trafficking story dumped in his lap. Directly we find Jake and Alien Cop exchanging information in the Eighth Circle of Hell, a Tokyo hostess bar, and Alien Cop reveals a bit of his personal outlook:
